Wraparound care at Kingsmead consists of breakfast club, after school clubs and play centre.

Breakfast club

We run a well attended free daily breakfast club runs every morning during term time. Children can arrive any time between 8.10 to 8.30am and they will be offered a selection of healthy breakfast options: a variety of cereals, porridge oats, toast, bagels, beans on toast, pure fruit juice, milk. A great way to start the day!  We are very proud to be able to offer an entirely free breakfast to every member of the school community without prior registration.

Early Start Breakfast club

We also offer an early start breakfast club for all ages on Monday to Fridays from 7.45 - 8.10am for parents who need to get to work. Our Early Start breakfast club costs £1 per child. For families who are registered for Free School Meals the cost is only 50p per child. Please book in advance by letting the school office know either by phone call or by emailing admin@kingsmead.hackney.sch.uk

After School clubs

We offer a range of after school clubs for children Year 1 to Year 6 (with clubs for  Reception children offered in the Spring & Summer Term) run by staff members & specialist teachers. The clubs on offer include various sports, gymnastics, boxing basketball, table tennis & football,  arts & crafts, sewing, singing and hockey & ball games for younger children. These clubs help promote children's well-being and develop their social skills.

Sessions run for one hour from 3.30 – 4.30pm on Mondays to Thursdays and are booked for a whole term block (10 weeks) at a cost of £30 per club per child. At the start of each term you will receive a letter outlining what clubs are available and asking for your preferences. Once your child has been allocated their clubs the school will let you know and you can then pay for them using Arbor.

Children who are registered for Free School Meals are eligible to apply for one weekly free club each term.

 

After School Play Centre

For working parents/carers needing longer regular after-school childcare we offer an after school play centre for children in all year groups, on Mondays - Thursdays from 3.30 - 5.30pm, staffed by Kingsmead staff. 

The cost is £5 per hour - so £10 if your child stays from 3.30 - 5.30pm. Children who attend an after school club from 3.30 - 4.30pm are welcome to attend the Kingsmead Playcentre from 4.30 - 5.30pm for a cost of £5.

To book your playcentre place, please call the school office or come to speak to Debs or Michelle. Payment must be made in advance.

 

TAX FREE CHILDCARE SCHEME

If you are a working family, you may be eligible to pay for your child’s nursery and wraparound care fees (including breakfast club,  playcentre, and activity clubs) through the Tax-Free Childcare scheme. With this scheme for every £8 you pay in, the government will pay £2.

1.     Email your Tax-Free Childcare reference number to the school office.

2.     Each time you make a payment, email the school office to confirm which fees it should cover so that we may allocate the payment correctly to your child's account.
